Payments

How will I get paid?
You will receive payments from your client via Venmo, a service of PayPal, Inc., a licensed provider of money transfer services. All money transmission is provided by PayPal, Inc.

What is Venmo?
Venmo is a free digital wallet that lets you make and share payments with friends. Learn more about Venmo here.

Why Venmo?
By leveraging Venmo, there is no need for Paylance to collect sensitive information like your bank account information when you sign up to use the app.

I don’t have a Venmo account, can I get paid with Paylance?
Yes you can get paid with Paylance. If you don’t have a Venmo account yet, the funds will be placed into a provisional Venmo account. You will receive an email informing you that you can claim the money by creating a Venmo account with that same email address.

What happens to my funds if I don’t create a Venmo account after my client downloads and pays for my files?
Once the funds are disbursed to the provisional Venmo account, they will remain there indefinitely until claimed. We reccommend you create a Venmo account either through the link sent to your email address or directly from Venmo, but remember to use the same email address that you created your Paylance account with.

How long will it take to receive my funds after my client submits payment?
It will take 1 to 2 business days to receive your funds in your Venmo account (business days are Monday through Friday).

In detail: your funds will be disbursed to you via Venmo 1 business day after the transaction has been settled by your client’s bank.
You can then transfer funds from your Venmo account to your bank account for free (it usually takes 1-2 business days based on your bank).
Please note that if your client submits their payment via Paylance after 5:00 PM CT, the transaction will be settled by the bank the following day at 5:00 PM CT, delaying the process by 1 business day.

What currency can my clients pay me via Paylance?
Your clients can pay you only in USD via Paylance (for now).
